History of the Department
The department received Rs.50 lakhs grant-in-aid from Ministry of Food Processing Industry, New Delhi in the year 2006 to offer a Postgraduate Course, M.Sc Food Processing and Quality Control. As the UG Programme is titled as B.Sc Home Science - Nutrition and Dietetics, the nomenclature of the PG Programme has been modified as M.Sc Home Science - Nutrition and Dietetics from the academic year 2020-21. The change in nomenclature would be helpful for the students to pursue higher studies and also would help to attain wider scope of career opportunities. The department extends its services for the uplift of rural homemakers, self-help groups and rural school children of rural background by extension activities. The department has good State of art laboratories with advanced equipment. It also provides scope for further research and development.
