To empower women by mounting human capabilities through superiority education with making them conscientious populace who can work for the progression of the society.

History of the Department
The greatest strides of glory and victory of our department mainly revolve round the unparalleled and unselfish efforts of the Faculty members and students for the Departmental advancements. Our Department was established and commenced their notable service on 1998. It has been expanding in quality and quantity every year and this year, the strength of the students is 125. The staff, with high academic qualification and a sense of dedication and devotion facilitate quality education.
Highlights of the Department
  • Value added course – Biofertilizer Production is conducted as Departmental course for every year to inculcate Entrepreneurship in young minds.
  • Biofertilizers Phosphobacteria and Azospirillium is produced and distributed every year to the farmers of nearby villages and creating awareness on to avoid chemical pesticides for protecting our generations from diseases.
  • Departmental magazine “MICROS MACRO THOUGHTS” run by the students of Microbiology every year.
  • Our Microbiology department act as a consultant for ‘PAVALAM AGENCIES’ General Merchants at Virudhunagar by testing their cashew nut samples according to various parameters such as TLC, Coliforms, Staphylococcus sp, and Salmonella.
  • On behalf of our Department, we had analyzed the quality of drinking water used in our campus for students’ purpose. Based upon our result analysis the college was taken remedial measures to improve the quality of drinking water used in our campus.

  • PANIS AGON-2017 – Intercollegiate competitions on “NURTURE OUR NATURE” was organized by the Departments of Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology and Microbiology on 20.12.2017.
  • National Symposium on “Emerging Viral Infectious Diseases” organized by the Departments of Biochemistry (PG), Microbiology and Biotechnology on 31.07.2019.
  • The departments of Chemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology were organized a one day workshop for water analysis on 31.01.2019. Our Microbiology department was analyzed the presence of microbes in twelve number of drinking water samples for various companies.
