To impart intensive knowledge and skills to rural students through quality education and to provide an environment where students become competent users of Mathematics in other disciplines.

Mission

To empower the students with profound knowledge in Mathematics, logical reasoning and analytical skills, to induce their passion for research and lifelong learning with a focus on moral values and social ethics.

History of the Department

Mathematics is a part of all sciences. It is named with pride as “Queen of Sciences”. Mathematics Department in Self-finance stream was introduced in 1993 to handle the subject in other disciplines such as Biochemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Application, Electronic Science and Commerce.
To meet the needs of students, B.Sc Mathematics Course in Self-finance stream was established in the year 2004 with the strength of 60 students. The students shinned up with fruitful results. There was tremendous demand for the course and to meet the need of students, an additional section was introduced from the year 2017 onwards. At present, the Department is run by experienced, Ph.d, NET and SET qualified faculty members.

Highlights of the Department

Students are encouraged to participate in online courses like NPTEL, Swayam, etc.,
Students are stimulated to self learning practice through, extra credit course to gain knowledge in mathematics.
Under creativity club activities, students enthusiastically make Mathematical Models.
Quiz club activities are conducted periodically to sharpen the knowledge and improve problem solving skills.
Students are motivated to attend interviews conducted by Placement cell.
Students are motivated to participate in Inter Collegiate competitions conducted in various colleges.
All the final year students in the academic year 2022-2023 were placed in reputed companies.
Three Minor Research Projects were sanctioned to the staff members of our Department in the year 2022.
On 05.09.2020 MoU was signed between the Department of Mathematics, V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women and SEGA PLASCAN EXPORTS, Virudhunagar.

On 26.09.2017, an Inter Collegiate Meet was conducted in ‘Kanitha Kendra’17 V.P.M.M. College, Krishnankovil.
Our student M.Shanmugapriya of III B.Sc. Maths, K.Nivetha, M.Bhuvaneshwari, S.Suvitha and N.K.Roshini II B.Sc. Maths won I prize in ‘As you like it’ Competition.

On 08.02.2018 an Inter Collegiate Meet was conducted in V.H.N.S.N College, Virudhunagar.

MoU

MoU between the Department of Mathematics Self Finance, V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women and SEGA PLASCAN EXPORTS, Virudhunagar was signed on 05.09.2020. This MoU is valid for a period of three years from the date of agreement.
