History of the Department

Every country is able to flourish through its commerce. Commercialisation is must for every commodity or a product. Earning profit is an important aim and how to earn is revealed in the commerce. Hence everybody is interested in choosing the commerce subject while they enter into the college.

B.Com course was started in the year 1995-1996. In order to fulfil the need of Computer education to compete in the business world, the B.Com Course was converted into B.Com (E-Commerce) in the year 2007-2008 with two sections. Since there is no demand for B.Com (E-Commerce) course and students were more interested in joining B.Com course, the B.Com (E-Commerce) was converted into B.Com programme which is a conventional course having stable demand in the year 2017-2018. Parallel Sections in B.Com Programme were started in the year 2022-2023.

Our students have presented papers in Students Faculty Research Forum.
Students also participated in many competitions conducted by other colleges. Students exhibited their talents and won overall shield.

Ms. Madubala, III B.Com (SF)’B’ Sec secured first prize in Drawing Competition conducted in connection with “Consumer Festival- 2024-2025” conducted at Virudhunagar Zone Supply and Consumer Protection office, Virudhunagar.
Our students won the Rolling Shield for inter departmental competitions organised in connection with Srinivasa Ramanujan birthday celebration by Department of Maths (Aided).

We offer courses both at Department and Inter Department level from the Academic year 2004-2005 to increase the entrepreneurial skill among the students.
