To impart knowledge of Commerce so that the learners can spread the seeds of Commerce throughout the fields of society.

To inculcate an aptitude towards Research Oriented higher studies.
To motivate the learners to undertake project works and to apply the findings and suggestions for the betterment of the society.
To transform Commerce graduates into dynamic entrepreneurs and potential job providers.

History of the Department

Every country is able to flourish through its commerce. Commercialisation is must for every commodity or a product. Earning profit is an important aim and how to earn is revealed in the commerce. Hence everybody is interested in choosing the commerce subject while they enter into the college.

B.Com course was started in the year 1995-1996. In order to fulfil the need of Computer education to compete in the business world, the B.Com Course was converted into B.Com (E-Commerce) in the year 2007-2008 with two sections. Since there is no demand for B.Com (E-Commerce) course and students were more interested in joining B.Com course, the B.Com (E-Commerce) was converted into B.Com programme which is a conventional course having stable demand in the year 2017-2018. Parallel Sections in B.Com Programme were started in the year 2022-2023.

Our department celebrates World Commerce Day and World Standards Day every year.
Pearl Jubilee Celebration was organised on 24.02.2025.
Our students won Rolling shield from Department of Mathematics aided in connection with Ramanujan’s birthday Celebration during 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.
Our students won winner shield from Department of Business Administration in connection with “Mani fest 2024” during the academic year 2023-2024.
Our students won runner up shield from Department of Business Administration in connection with “Mani fest” during the academic year 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.
Our department have two parallel section with the strength of 248 students.

Dr.B.Nandhini won Star Performer Gold Medal Award from the College Managing Board in the academic year 2025-2026.

Ms.Kavinaya of II B.Com (SF) A Section achieved the World Record in Bharathanatyam titled as 'Nataraaja Narthanam' organized by Shri Sivaya Rudharan Natiyalaat Kailash Maansarovar School, Salem in the academic year 2025-2026.
Six students participated and won the second prize in Ethnic Dance competition in the Inter Collegiate Meet conducted by Sermathai Vasan College for Women, Madurai in the academic year 2025-2026.

Ms.G.Kavinaya of II B.Com SF A Section participated in the State Level Inter Collegiate Cultural Fest organised by A.K.D.Dhramaraja Nadar Womens’ College, Rajapalayam and own the II prize in Folk Dance Competition in the academic year 2025-2026.
Four of our III B.Com (SF) B Section students participated in Ground – Breaking Tunes (Imitation Dance) competition in the State Level Inter Collegiate Meet conducted by Standard Fireworks Rajaratinam College for Women, Sivakasi.
Ms.R.Divya Dharshini of II B.Com (SF) A Section won the gold medal and Cash award of Rs.3,000/- in TUG OF WAR competition orgainsed by Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority, Ithu Namma Aattam – 2026 in the academic year 2025-2026.

Seven Students of II B.Com SF A & B Section participated in 'Tally 26' an intercollegiate meet organised by the Shaiva Bhanu Kshthriya College, AruppuKottai. Two students won I prize in story making competition and won the overall winner shield.

22 students completed certificate courses on psychology, DTP, Company secretary ship, Filling of Tax Income, CMA, Becoming an Entrepreneur during the academic year 2025-2026.
Ms.N.Kiruthika of II B.Com (SF) B Section won the cash award of Rs.7,000 in Hand Writing competition conducted by College Education Department, Madurai on 07.10.2024.
Students also participated in many competitions conducted by other colleges. Students exhibited their talents and won overall shield.

Best Practices

We offer courses both at Departmental and Inter Departmental level from the Academic year 2004-2005 to increase the entrepreneurial skill among the students.
Observe World Standards Day to impart knowledge about standards among the students.
Observe World Commerce Day to impart knowledge about sustainable trade for a resilient future among the students.
One Day Personality Development Programme was organised every year.
