To impart knowledge of Commerce so that the learners can spread the seeds of Commerce throughout the fields of society.

History of the Department

Every country is able to flourish through its commerce. Commercialisation is must for every commodity or a product. Earning profit is an important aim and how to earn is revealed in the commerce. Hence everybody is interested in choosing the commerce subject while they enter into the college.

B.Com course was started in the year 1995-1996. In order to fulfil the need of Computer education to compete in the business world, the B.Com Course was converted into B.Com (E-Commerce) in the year 2007-2008 with two sections. Since there is no demand for B.Com (E-Commerce) course and students were more interested in joining B.Com course, the B.Com (E-Commerce) was converted into B.Com programme which is a conventional course having stable demand in the year 2017-2018. Parallel Sections in B.Com Programme were started in the year 2022-2023.

Our department faculties are doing Online Certificate course under National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) every year.

Our entire faculty completed many ShortTerm Courses, Webinar, Workshop, Faculty Development Programme and Refresher courses organized by our esteemed institution and various institutions.

Student Achievements

On-Campus Job Fairs were conducted by various reputed companies in our institution. Totally 30 students were benefited by getting the employment through Job Fairs. Eight students of III B.Com (SF) got internship in two companies.
Many of our students are doing Online Certificate course under National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)
Our students also participated and presented papers in National Seminar in various institutions.
Students also participated in many competitions conducted by other colleges. Students exhibited their talents and won overall shield.
Our college Youth Red Cross Club organised blood donation camp. 9 of our students donated blood voluntarily.
Ms. Ayisha Siddhika of III B.Com(SF) got Sakalakalavalli award.
Our Department students got appreciation award in Creative Gardening – Inter departmental competition in connection with Diamond Jubilee Celebration.
Ms. Sowmiya of III B.Com(SF) got Sakalakala Valli award and Best Singer award in 2023.
Ms .Devadharshini of III B.Com (SF) received award from Rotary Club, Virudhunagar in the year 2023.
Ms. S.Vijaydharshini of III B.Com (SF) is the recipient of Best outgoing award and Academic Topper of our department in 2023.

Best Practices

In order to enhance the reading habit of the students, the Department of Commerce has reading club”. The Hindu Tamil” Newspaper was bought regularly and it was circulated among the students during the lunch break.
Apart from the curriculum, we offer courses both at Department and Inter Department level from the Academic year 2004-2005 to increase the entrepreneurial skill among the students.
Observe World Tele Communication Day to impart the knowledge about Tele Communication among the students.
