National Service Scheme
The National Service Scheme is a special programme for the youth sponsored by the Government of India. This scheme was introduced in our college in August 1973. Four units, 183,184, 223 and 233 are functioning in our college.
The Principal is the Chairman. N.S.S Staff members appointed by the Chairman are Programme Officers. Each unit has one hundred students from the first and the second year degree classes. A Volunteer is required to put in 120 hours of work per year. The students who serve through these units for two years are eligible to get a certificate from Madurai Kamaraj University. An Advisory Committee consisting of the Chairman, the Programme Officers, members of the staff from various discipline and two student representatives, is formed every year.
The NSS provides an opportunity to the students to work for the underprivileged section. NSS special camp is conducted at the adopted villages for 7days. Awareness programmes like tree plantation, medical camp, blood group identification camp and cultural programmes are conducted during the Camp.
