FORUMS & CELLS

Youth Welfare Organization


        This organization functions in accordance with guidance prescribed by the Department of Youth Welfare, Madurai Kamaraj University. The Principal is the President of the organization. Three members of staff are appointed as student service officers. The Officers in consultation with the President appoint the staff-in charge of various units functioning under this organization. The activities of the various units bring out the inherent talents in students and develop their personality.

Physical Education


         Physical Education is meaningful and worthwhile experience obtained through participation in activities that are physically wholesome, mentally stimulating and socially sound. The aim of physical education is to provide facilities and opportunities of participation in physical activities through which the fullest development of man is attained.

National Service Scheme


         The National Service Scheme is a special programme for the youth sponsored by the Government of India. This scheme was introduced in our college in August 1973. Four units, 183,184, 223 and 233 are functioning in our college.
        The Principal is the Chairman. N.S.S Staff members appointed by the Chairman are Programme Officers. Each unit has one hundred students from the first and the second year degree classes. A Volunteer is required to put in 120 hours of work per year. The students who serve through these units for two years are eligible to get a certificate from Madurai Kamaraj University. An Advisory Committee consisting of the Chairman, the Programme Officers, members of the staff from various discipline and two student representatives, is formed every year.
        The NSS provides an opportunity to the students to work for the underprivileged section. NSS special camp is conducted at the adopted villages for 7days. Awareness programmes like tree plantation, medical camp, blood group identification camp and cultural programmes are conducted during the Camp. It helps them to use their energy and knowledge to mitigate atleast some of the social problems. It involves students in constructive work and makes them serve the nation.

Alumnae Association


        There is an alumnae association which is registered as “V.V.Vanniaperumal Pengal Kalloori Pazhaiya Maanaviyar Sangam” (Regn.No.178/2017) in the academic year 2017-18. Alumnae Day is celebrated every year on last Saturday of December. From the alumnae association fund, nearly 16000 is distributed to the needy students every year.

        Student Faculty Research Forum provides a platform to promote research activities among the students and members of the staff

Ward System


         Psychological care is provided to students of our college by adopting ward system. Values of life are imparted to the mentees by means of tutorial system. The Principal is the Chairman assisted by two members of the staff. Each mentor is assigned to a batch of mentees whose progress is assessed regularly and problems, if any, are solved promptly.

Planning Forum


         The Principal is the President of the Planning Forum. A staff member from the Commerce Department is the Vice-President and she is assisted by a team of staff members. The Secretary and the Joint Secretary of the forum are selected from the final year students. The main aim of the forum is to make the students and the people around as plan- conscious. It encourages students and the public to save money and popularize Government Schemes and create awareness through audio visual aids and lectures. It helps the students to get their permanent driving license, passport and Voter’s ID.

Counseling Forum


Under this forum one teacher from each department gives counsel to the respective students regarding their personal, financial and educational problems.

Consumer Forum


         The Consumer forum is started by District Forum in colleges through which students will make aware of consumer rights and create awareness among the people in villages.

Women Empowerment Cell


         The purpose of women’s education is to liberate and elevate them economically for which they must be empowered with job-oriented skills. The academic courses need to be complemented by self-supportive courses. The Women Empowerment Cell takes care of this with a zeal to make the students stand on their own legs. The Cell functions quite efficaciously with the Principal as the Chairman and two members of the staff as coordinators.

Grievance Redressal Cell


         With the Principal as the Chairman and Union Vice- Presidents and Students representatives as members, this cell paves the way for redressing the grievances of students and for developing in them proper perspective of life.

Social Service League


        The Social Service League of the college functions with the Principal as the Patron and a staff member as the President. The Secretary is selected from the third year degree class. This league trains the students to render service to the less fortunate brethren.

Unanimo Club


        Unanimo Club functions actively throughout the academic year to create communal harmony awareness among the students and society at large.

Eco Club


        Eco club plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation. It also enables the students to be sensitive towards environmental problems.

Green Club


        The main objectives of the Green club are to make the college campus green by planting more saplings and also to recycle the bio waste.

Youth Red Cross


        Service minded students, prepared for any kind of voluntary service are the members of this forum. The aim is to lend a helping hand to the needy people.

Red Ribbon Club


        Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in Schools and Colleges through which students will spread awareness over HIV/AIDS. It envisages to instill charity mind among all the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy lifestyles, donating blood to all the needy by promotion of regular voluntary blood donation.

RRC

Extension Service Centre


        The aim of higher education is to take the light of knowledge to the society at large. To implement this, we have constituted the Extension Service Centre with the Principal as the Chairman and two faculty members as the Co-ordinators. The objectives are to develop scientific thinking among rural school children, to impart job-oriented skills to rural womenfolk and to popularise Government Schemes and to inculcate healthy practices in them.

Earn While you Learn


        The aim is to provide opportunities for the needy and the deserving students to earn while they learn. It helps them to grow self-reliant.

National Cadet Corps


        The National Cadet Corps is the youth wing of Armed forces which is open to School and College students on voluntary basis. The Scheme helps the students in grooming discipline and patriotism. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The trained cadets, if selected will be attending the Republic Day Parade taking place every year in New Delhi.

Department Council


        At the end of every semester with the Head of Department as the Chairman and Members of Staff, Student Representatives and External Expert from some other Department as Members, this cell functions quiet efficiently to discuss about Curriculum, Teaching - Learning & Evaluation and other activities of the department. The feedback of the members will be reported by the External Expert to the Principal and the Members of the Board for further development of the department.

Internal Complaint Cell


        The Internal Complaint Cell, constituted as per the UGC norms, facilitates the students to register their complaints regarding any issues, through the Complaint Box fixed in the college campus. The administrative wing of the college scrutinizes periodically the oral complaints represented by the students and any issues through the Complaint Box and addresses them duly for rectification.

Student Welfare Committee


        The Student Welfare Committee is constituted each year with student representatives from all disciplines (1 student per programme) to address the issues pertaining to students’ welfare. It serves as a linking platform between the administration and the student body. The student management interaction is held three times a year to discuss new welfare policies and to identify redressal measures for students’ grievances.

Life Style Club


        Life style Club has the objectives to create awareness to students about dynamically progressing in their marital and professional life. It enunciates life’s values among students. Further, it promotes affection, integrity, empathy, respect for the elders, social responsibility, discipline among the students.

Rotaract Club


        This forum is to provide an opportunity for the students to enhance the knowledge and skills in personal development, to address physical and social needs of their communities, to emphasize respect for the rights of others and to promote better relationship Worldwide.

மேடைப் பயிற்சி மன்றம்


        மேடையின் இலக்கணம் அறிந்து பேசும் திறன்களை மாணவர்கள் மத்தியில் வளர்க்கும் நோக்கில் நம் கல்லூரியில் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட அமைப்பு மேடைப் பயிற்சி மன்றம் ஆகும். இப்பயிற்சியின் மூலம் மாணவர்கள் தன்னம்பிக்கை, துணிவு, பயமின்மை, கூச்சமின்மை, மதிநுட்பம், நினைவாற்றல், வாசிப்புப் பழக்கம், குரல் வளம், உச்சரிப்புத் திறன் போன்ற தனித் திறன்களை பெறலாம்.
